Whole Chicken in the Air Fryer

This air fryer whole chicken is a company-worthy dish that is surprisingly easy to make!  With less than 10 minutes of hands-on prep time, you have a delicious main course that is substantial enough to feed a crowd.  (But easy enough for a busy weeknight.) Make it once, and you will be hooked!

– 1 tablespoon garlic powder – 2 teaspoons smoked paprika – 2 teaspoons sea salt – 1 teaspoon dried rosemary – 1 teaspoon dried basil – 1 teaspoon dried thyme – ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper – ¼ cup unsalted butter at room temperature – 1 3 to 5-pound whole chicken, neck and giblets removed

In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, rosemary, basil, thyme, and black pepper. Place the butter in another small bowl and add half of the spice mixture.

Stir until all the ingredients are incorporated. Rub the butter mixture underneath the skin and dry spices on the outside of the chicken.

Tie the legs with kitchen twine if you want. Preheat your air fryer to 350° F.

Place the chicken in the basket breast side down. Cook for 40 minutes.

Flip and cook for an additional 10 to 20 minutes (depending on the size of your chicken), until the internal temperature is 160° F.

Allow to rest for at least 5 minutes before carving and serving.
