Ingredients

  • 9 ounces halloumi cheese
  • 1 egg beaten
  • cup finely ground almond flour
  • cup finely ground parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Cut the halloumi into sticks.
  • Place the egg in a shallow bowl.
  • In another bowl, combine the almond flour, parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. If you would like, you can season to taste with salt and pepper. (But keep in mind that halloumi is already fairly salty.)
  • Dip the cheese sticks into an egg, and then coat with the almond flour mixture.
  • Place on a parchment-lined plate or baking sheet, and continue with the remaining cheese sticks.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan to 350° F. (You can also use a deep fryer.) Fry the cheese for about 90 seconds to 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. (Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan if necessary.)
  • Transfer the cooked halloumi to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve warm.
