How to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole

Chopped onions sautéing in a stainless steel pan with oil, set on a wooden cutting board—perfect for starting your Keto Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole.
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Add oil to your skillet and heat to medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes.
A metal colander filled with fresh spinach leaves sits on a wooden cutting board, ready to be used in a Keto Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole.
Next, add the spinach to the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the spinach wilts. Remove from heat.
A red bowl on a wooden cutting board contains chopped cooked chicken, crispy bacon pieces, and sautéed spinach—perfect ingredients for a Keto Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole—neatly arranged in separate sections.
After that, combine the onion, spinach, chicken, and bacon in a large bowl.
A red mixing bowl on a wooden surface contains chopped cooked chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, cooked spinach, and a creamy white sauce—ingredients perfect for preparing a flavorful Keto Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole.
In the bowl of a food processor, combine the cream cheese, ranch dressing, and cayenne pepper. Process until smooth. Toss the ranch mixture with the chicken mixture and stir until combined.

Transfer to an 8 x 8 baking dish.
A white square baking dish filled with Keto Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole, topped with a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese, resting on a wooden cutting board.
Top with cheese and bake for 30 minutes. Drizzle with additional ranch and sprinkle with bacon crumbles and parsley.

    Can I use low-fat dairy?

You can, but I don't recommend it. Low-fat dairy isn't appropriate for a keto diet, and doesn't taste as good.

Can I Use Store Bought Ranch Dressing?

Absolutely! Make sure you read the labels to avoid hidden sugars. This is my go to brand.

    Variations

    • You can substitute broccoli florets for the spinach. I recommend blanching it first. To do this, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Fill a bowl with ice water. Cook the broccoli for 90 seconds and drain. Immediately plunge the broccoli into the bowl of water. Drain and continue with the recipe as directed.
    • Cauliflower florets are another option. Follow the same directions as you would use for spinach.

    Equipment

    • 8 x 8 casserole dish

    • Skillet

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • ½ cup diced onion

    • 1 ½ cups cooked chicken breast or thighs cubed
    • 8 ounces crispy bacon cooked and chopped

    • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
    • For serving: bacon crumbles ranch dressing, parsley
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    • Heat a oil in a skillet to medium heat and add the onion.
    • Cook for 5 minutes, and add the spinach.
    • Cook until the spinach wilts and remove from the heat.
    • Combine the onion, spinach, chicken, and bacon in a large bowl.
    • Combine the cream cheese, ranch dressing, and cayenne pepper in the bowl of a food processor and process until smooth.
    • Toss the mixture with the chicken until well combined and transfer to an 8 x8 baking dish.
    • Top with cheese and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Drizzle ranch dressing on the top of the casserole. Sprinkle with bacon crumbles and parsley and serve.

    Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

    Reheating

You can reheat it in the microwave, but I am not a fan of the taste of chicken that has been cooked in the microwave. I would heat it for about 15 minutes in a 350-degree oven. You can also put it in a 300 degree Air Fryer for about 12 minutes. (Obviously, put it in a pan in your air fryer - not directly on the basket.)

    Freezing

Yes - you can assemble it and leave the cheese off and freeze it for up to three months. Cooked leftovers may also be frozen in individual portions.

So I modified this to put it in the crock pot and it was SOOO good! I added chicken broth and some butter for more fat. I also just used a ranch packet instead of keto ranch! Delicious!!

You put raw chicken in the mix correct? Or do you cook chicken first?

Is it over 500 calories per serving or is that the total amount?

Just made this recipe today. I chopped up three carrots and added that to the sauteed vegetables. The added carrots were okay, but definitely didn't detract from the amazing flavor! It's so amazing! I will definitely be adding this to my menu rotation.
